Hey, CNC Machinist...I couldn't mill my head...I don't have a Bridgeport! Man, all I have is a
9" x 24" metal lathe, a drill press, a grinder, and a mess of hand tools. Don't worry about me cuttin' out on you guys...I'm gonna keep this Website on my "favorites" list!

My model railroad is 1/22.5 scale. HO is 1/87, so there's a hell of a difference in size! I have an indoor layout that's 147 feet long, modeled in early 1900's narrow-gauge. It's Bitchin'!

Yeah, my Savage is back to the stock "goody two-shoes" mild-mannered little scooter, so I've got a pair of rigid steel links that I won't be using anymore, which will drop the tail of a Savage 4 inches.

I've got different ideas in modifying my engine: First, I would install a sleeve to reduce the bore to 50mm instead of 94mm, then I would install a 1/2-inch spacer between the cylinder and head to lower the compression to about 5 to
1, then I would put an intake restriction on the carburetor to cut the diameter from 40mm to 20mm, then I would solder up the hole in the main jet, so it would run on only the diaphragm slide, then I would fit a plug in the stock muffler outlet, with a 3/8" hole to increase back pressure, then I would remove the camshaft and grind down the lobes to give 1/8-inch valve lift.
Then I would install a Governor to limit the revs to 2000. This is called "Hopping Down" instead of hopping up!

(I used to be the Chief Mechanic at Indianapolis)

Watch your Redline...
